One of the year’s last major Injustice 2 events, the ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championship kicked off group play on October 27th. In the competition’s first week, SonicFox aimed to advance into the playoffs bracket from Group A, where he was matched up against some formidable opponents.

For the first match of the day, SonicFox took on Circa’s ForeverKing. Though he started with Captain Cold, SonicFox quickly decided to switch to Red Hood after he lost game 1 of the best-of-5 series. Fighting to take control of the match, SonicFox pushed his way to tie the series at 1-1. However, ForeverKing’s Batman was too strong to handle as SonicFox fell to the loser’s bracket after a 3-1 defeat.

Down but not out, SonicFox looked to regain momentum as he faced HeeyGe0rge. SonicFox again dropped game 1 of the set as his opponent’s Joker caught him off guard. Playing patiently, he worked his way to another 1-1 tie in a close game 2. SonicFox went on to win game 3, but HeeyGe0rge rallied back in game 4 to tie the series 2-2. In a suspenseful elimination-game, SonicFox switched characters from Red Hood to Deadshot and he methodically chipped away at his opponent to win game 5 and advance 3-2.

After surviving that early loser’s round scare, SonicFox’s came up against D.R. Gross. He took the first round of game 1 with a pressure-heavy game plan, but D.R. Gross fought back, handing SonicFox another game one defeat. Rebounding from the loss, SonicFox quickly pushed his way to a 2-1 lead and forced Gross to switch to Green Lantern. Despite the change of characters, SonicFox stayed in control and advanced with a 3-1 victory.

Moving on to the loser’s semi-finals, SonicFox faced off against Batman player Nubcakes. Opting to switch back to Captain Cold to begin the set, SonicFox again fell to a 1-0 deficit. He fought his way to a game 2 win but again found himself falling behind as Nubcakes moved to a 2-1 lead. Staying confident in his Captain Cold choice, SonicFox rallied his way back and eventually won the set with a clutch 3-2 victory.

In the loser’s finals of the group, SonicFox met ForeverKing for a rematch of the day’s first set. With a spot in the ELEAGUE playoffs on the line, both players were determined to advance alongside Allegiance’s Dragon, who himself qualified for the playoffs through the winner’s side of the bracket and sent ForeverKing to face SonicFox.

Sticking with Captain Cold against ForeverKing’s Batman, SonicFox sought revenge on ForeverKing for sending him to the loser’s bracket. SonicFox pushed game 1 to the final round but found himself at a 1-0 deficit yet again. In Game 2 he fared slightly better but could not prevent, ForeverKing from taking a 2-0 lead.

Determined not to go down quickly, SonicFox switched back to Red Hood as he made his final stand. Avoiding a sweep, he picked up his first win of the set utilizing strong zoning tools against ForeverKing. Despite another very close game, SonicFox couldn’t overcome his opponent’s Batman as a 3-1 loss marked the end of his ELEAGUE run.

Echo Fox is not done at the ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championship, however, as Theo will be taking on his Group B opponents this Friday, November 3rd. Theo’s group consists of many other Injustice Pro Series finalists, including Semiij, FoxyGrampa, tekken master, and Theo’s first-round matchup, HAPPYPOW. Group B starts play this Friday.

Stay tuned as Echo Fox looks to come up victorious in the next group of the ELEAGUE World Championship!
